At Healthy Heartz, we focus on heart-healthy lifestyles and wellness through plant-based eating.

Although this way of eating is not new, more people are awakening to the fact that our current

diets are making us sick, and in some cases, killing us. Our philosophy is to provide information

and guidance to those who have decided to embrace a plant-based diet.

First, it’s important to understand what plant-based eating is and is not. It’s not about depriving

yourself of delicious food. It’s possible to use whole-food ingredients to cook and enjoy food

that tastes good! Rather, it’s a way to incorporate nutrients in our bodies the way Mother Nature

intended. Secondly, it’s a way to use food as medicine with the goal of reducing and even

eliminating medication.

Remember, too, that eating nutritious food is only half the battle. We’ll also offer other health,

life coaching and daily living tips to help you achieve a happier and healthier YOU!

So, what is a plant-based diet?

A plant-based diet includes fresh vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, legumes, and whole grains. A

whole-food plant-based diet focuses on eliminating all processed food that may be high in

unwanted chemicals and preservatives. Worried about not getting enough protein? You’ll be

surprised how much protein is in plants. Cutting out animal products does not mean you are

cutting down on the protein your body needs.

Why focus on heart disease?

Simply put, it’s the leading cause of death in the United States, primarily due to the Standard

American Diet (SAD). The Western diet contains large amounts of sugar, salt, cholesterol, and

fat. Research shows heart disease - and contributing risk factors such as type 2 diabetes, high

blood pressure, high cholesterol, and obesity – are preventable and can be reversed by eating a

plant-based, whole-food diet.
